The Event Committee is responsible for providing direction for the community events planner and youth coordinator, on annual events such as: 4th of July, Christmas, Thanksgiving, Easter, New Years, and seasonal and monthly activities. Some activities include traditional and contemporary crafts, cultural foods like frybread and akutuq/nemiji, movie nights, and potlucks.
The Youth Coordinator is responsible for holding a safe place for kids to go during the week. They are expected to hold weekly events, where all kids are welcome. Somethings to expect can range from study groups, culture nights, cooking, movie nights, etc.
A majority of our funding comes from Domestic Violence/ Sexual Assault grants, to bring awareness, prevention, and assistance to those in need. By offering at least two events a month, this strengthens relationships between those in the community. This offers a chance for those in need to have the trust to come forward and find a support system through group activities.
